Bowers, Brill, Clancy among U.S. 36 raceway winners

By Rick Staley (Osborn, MO) -- E-Modifieds were the first to enter the fast, Smooth US 36 Raceway High Banks and oh what a show they would provide the fans. Chance Brune #37C would set the pace early leading the field as two of our top point guys started deep in the pack having to work traffic as the feature progressed. Coleman Browning #21K was a big mover early as he worked traffic to perfection taking the lead from Brune and fighting off the hard charging #15 of Josh Adkins. Caution would fly as front runner Laine Grenier #25 would find the turn #4 wall as something broke on his race car and head on into the wall he would go slowing the racing action temporarily. As the green would again be shown, browning would not be denied as he held off all challengers for the win. Always fast Chris Dishong #54L would try Browning numerous times but be forced to settle for second on this night of competition. Adkins would end the feature third with ever present George Burnett #23 fourth and Kevin Rash #07R rounding out the night’s top five. Heat race winners were Coleman Browning, Chris Dishing and Josh Adkins.

Pure Stock would see a first-time winner in Lake Road Warehouse Victory Lane as Colton Couch would add his name to the winners list. Colton, #13X would use a front row starting position to launch him to the front and he would never look back running a flawless feature. He would win his heat race earlier in the night and use that momentum to propel him to the win. Challenges were made the entire feature by Darrion McLaughlin #38D as he would find success on the high banks in only his second appearance in Pure Stock. McLaughlin would slip slightly in later stages as Tyler Starmer #11S would show his presence to Couch but to was denied and finished a close second on then night. Heat winners and dueling #27’s Jason Ryun, #27 and Brandon Hoover #27H, would do battle with Ryun third and Hoover fourth as McLaughlin would place a very solid fifth.

Karls Customs Northern Sport Mods would not disappoint as they took to the track with a loaded field of competitors. RJ Dishong #46J would set the pace until Timm Stallbaumer #K27 would charge by only to see Cody Brill “Thrill” as he would take the lead. Brill would be tested on track by Austin Charles #81 and a charging Adam Vrbka #7V as the race progressed. Heat winner Brill would not be phased by the challenges and hold his line on track to perfection. Other heat winner #74 of Justin Asher was in the mix as well with Brill holding off all competitors to pick up the feature win. Brill would celebrate in Lake Road Warehouse Victory Lane with family as last week’s winner Vrbka would place a close second on the night. Former Track Champion in IMCA Sport Mod Steven Clancy #12X would place third with Tim Eaton #211 fourth. Fifth place would belong to the always fast and consistent #81 of Austin Charles whom would fade slightly in the closing laps. Front contender and last season Track Champion Chris Wright #66X would find the outside wall on the front stretch bringing the yellow out but was able to continue and finish the feature.

Antony Whitham #26 would set the pace early for IMCA Stock Cars jumping to the front quickly with Matthew Lance #12X in tow. Heat winner Mich Ross #34X would waste no time coming through the field taking the lead from Whitham. Other heat race winner Carson Masoner #20X would battle Ross high and low but to no avail and give way to a fast Shadren Turner #17X. As Ross continued to lead, Chad Clancy #21C would live up to his Nickname as “Smooth” as he would run down the leaders and get into position to challenge Ross for the front spot. Clancy would challenge as Ross developed engine trouble and drop his car into the infield out of win contention. Heat race winner Clancy would go on to the win with Turner a close second. Third would see Carson Masoner with big brother Conner Masoner #47X fourth and Whitham a solid fifth place on the night.

IMCA Modifieds would enter the track to complete the night’s racing action wit
a great field of contenders. Like the gift that keeps on giving, heat race3 winner Steven Bowers Jr #77 would charge to the front and lead the majority of the race. Greg Querry #02 would challenge early along with Cory Myers #15. Myers would develop mechanical problems forcing him from competition as Josh Munsen #19X would challenge Bowers late in the race. Bowers would win the feature, Munsen would settle for a close second with Querry third. Eddie Schwope III #91 would race his way to fourth with Jason Withrow rounding out the night’s top five.

US 36 Raceway would like to thank all those that donated for the back-to-school backpacks with over 140 giving to the kids Friday Night. A special thanks to X’Factor Motorsports as way over $1000 in coins were dropped on the front straight for the kids to grab at Intermission with fun had by all. We also want to thank them for donating shirts thrown to the fans and a special thanks to Austin Charles, “Big Show”, Driver of #81 IMCA Sport Mod, for donating frisbees we tossed to the fans.
