By Rick Staley (Osborn, MO) -- POWERi URSS Sprints would take to the track and see Jay Russell #76 win both his heat race and qualifying dash and set the pace for the feature. Russell would lead the feature until late as Waverly, KS driver Stu Snyder would chase him down and challenge for the lead. In the closing laps Snyder would make then move on the outside and take the top spot. Snyder would win the feature with Russell nursing home a sick power plant to finish second. Zach Blurton from Quinter, KS would race his #2J through the pack to place a solid third on the night followed by a very fast Arcadia, OK native Ty Williams #911. Williams #911 was one of the fastest cars on the night but developed problems in his heat race and was forced to start deep in the field but recovered to place fourth. Rounding out the night’s top five would see #88J Jeremy Huish from Jetmore, KS win his heat race and have a solid night.
Chris “Rowdy” Dishong #54L from Atchison, KS E-Modified Feature Winner!!!
E-Modified would enter the High Banks 20 machines strong and put on an action-packed feature with a familiar face in Lake Road Warehouse Victory Lane. Kevin Rash#07R from Lawson, MO would take the early pacing the field at a blistering pace with Josh Adkins #15 from Savannah, MO in tow. These two would do battle as heat race winner Chris Dishong #54L from Atchison, KS would start his charge through the pack with Coleman Browning #21K hooked to his bumper. A late race caution would set the stage for a shootout with Dishong making the slide job work in turn four and take the lead from Rash. Browning would challenge late but was unable to capitalize as Dishong would not faulter picking up the feature win. As Dishong celebrated his victory, heat winner Coleman Browning from Cameron, MO would place a very strong second moving heat winner Rash to place third. Fourth place would go to a hard charging George Burnett #23 from Cameron, MO as he outpaced the fast Josh Adkins who would come home fifth.
“Big Show” Austin Charles #81 from Basehor, KS IMCA Sport Mod Feature Winner!!!!
IMCA Sport Mod would charge to the racing surface a see a “Big Show” race to the front. Heat winners Adam Vrbka #7V from Eagle, NE and Austin Charles #81 from Basehor, KS would put on a show in the front of the field. Austin Charles would take the early lead a appear to be the car to beat only to see Vrbka slowly work through the field of competitors to get in striking distance as the laps would down. A late race yellow would bunch the field and see these two along with a very fast #26J of Jace Whitt from Hamilton, MO fight a three-way battle for the win. Charles would not be denied and put the #81 out front a take the checkers for his first ever win on the high banks of US 36 Raceway. As Charles celebrated the win, Vrbka would have to settle for second with Whitt third. Tim Eaton #211 from St Joe, MO would race from back to front finishing fourth with Odessa, MO’s Steven Clancy #12X making his presence felt finishing fifth on the night.
“Maysville Mauler” Mich Ross #34X from Maysville, MO IMCA Stock Car Feature Winner!!!
IMCA Stock Car never disappoints, and this night would be no different with side-by-side racing and a photo finish at the checkers. Heat winner Brandon Williams from Platte City, MO would set the pace for the field to follow as he and the #94J of Josh Steele also from Platte City would battle for the front. Other heat winner Matthew Lance #12X from Savannah, MO would be in the hunt early as well only to develop mechanical issues taking him from contention. Williams #67X would pull ahead of the field and lead all but the one lap that pays as Mich Ross from Maysville, MO would charge from a 12th place starting spot to challenge Williams. A late race caution would bunch the field setting up a green, white, checker finish seeing Ross #34X charge to the outside and win the feature over Williams by a mere bumper at the line. Ross would win, Williams second, hard charger Doug Keller #7 from Easton, MO third, week one winner #99 Brian Labonte from Lawrence, KS fourth and Randy Smith JR #72X from Hamilton, MO fifth.
“Hollywood” Steven Bowers Jr #77 from Topeka, KS IMCA Modified Feature Winner!!!!
IMCA Modified would see the familiar face of Steven Bowers Jr #81and Harley in Lake Road Warehouse Victory Lane at US 36 Raceway Dirt Track. Heat race winner Shayne Bailey #7 from Lathrop, MO would jump to the early lead and mount a big lead over the field only to see Bowers charge through the field with precision and skill to stalk Bailey and take the lead away late. Bowers, from Topeka, KS would celebrate the win as Bailey would slip to third as Norwalk, IA’s Chase Rudolf #8R would charge to second on the night. Fourth and fifth would see a great battle between Josh Munsen #19X from Atchison KS and Chad Anderson #8C from Ft Calhoun, NE until Anderson would have mechanical issues taking him from the race. Doug Heimbaugh #49D would have a solid night as the St Joe, MO driver oud round out the night’s top five.
