By Jacob Blair (Osborn, MO) – For the first time in their inaugural season, the Iowa Sprint Car League visited the high banks of US 36 Raceway. At the end of the night, Wyatt Burks held off two different challenges from Mitchell Moore and Riley Kreisel. Burks set a blistering pace early and opened a big gap. Lapped traffic late in the race allowed Mitchell Moore to close in and battle Burks. With four laps to go the caution flew, giving Burks a clean track in front of him on the restart. Once the green came back out, Kreisel made the move for second and tried to mount a charge on the leader, but the laps ran out. Burks made a trip to victory lane as Kreisel finished second. Mitchell Moore finished third with Brian Beebe fourth and Don Droud Jr. fifth.

Chad Clancy dominated the IMCA Modified feature. He had to hold off a few challenges on restarts, but Clancy never put a foot wrong and won his second race of the season. Josh Most charged up from a seventh place starting position to finish second. Steven Bowers tried to make the high line work and moved up to third late in the race. Tyler Hibner and Andy Gage were part of the four-car battle for fourth with Clay Hale and Brandon Williams, with Hibner finishing fourth and Gage finishing fifth.

The IMCA Winged Sprint Car feature saw Jack Potter take control early. Potter looked to have the fastest car on the racetrack and was well on his way to a feature win. Although late in the race, Potter entered a little high in turn three and slid over the berm bringing out the caution. Kenny Potter inherited the lead and held it for a few laps before Fairview, Oklahoma’s, Jake Martens made the pass. Martens got the win and made a trip to Westfall GMC Victory Lane. Kenny Potter finished second with Matt Richards third. Mike Houseman Jr. charged from a 12th place starting position to finish fourth and Mike Moore finished fifth.

Steve Starmer moved his way from a fourth place starting position to pick up his first IMCA Stock Car win of 2019 at US 36 Raceway. Once Starmer made the pass for the lead, moving around Bryan Rigsby, he set sail for the remainder of the feature. Blake Peeler was the hard charger as he finished second after starting tenth. Mich Ross finished third as early leader Rigsby finished fourth. Carson Masoner rounded out the top five.

Last race, which was two weeks ago, Steven Clancy used patience to pick up the IMCA Sport Mod feature win. He would do the same thing on this night making a late race move around Josh Munsen to pick up win number four of the season. Munsen, who led most of the race, finished second. Randy Smith Jr., Coleman Browning and Randy Davis mad made up the rest of the top five in an attrition filled race.

The E-Modifieds witnessed Kameron Hanes pick up his first career feature win. Hanes used a front-row starting position and a smooth line to earn the win. He had to hold off several restart challenges from Chris Dishong, but Dishong didn’t have enough to move around Hanes. Dishong finished second. Josh Adkins moved up from a ninth place starting position to finish third. Justin Mitchell finished fourth and Justin Asher finished fifth.

Conrad Kaufman set the early pace in the Pure Stock feature. He led most of the race, but Connor Masoner was trying to keep his undefeated season intact. Masoner made the late race move around Kaufman to pick up win number five on the season. Kaufman finished second. Carson Masoner finished third, Chester Kaufman fourth and Shaun Houston fifth.
